Mexico Grand Prix: Sergio Perez, a hometown boy, racing to ensure his future with Red Bull

This weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix will see Sergio Perez competing against reigning champion Max Verstappen for his Red Bull future in front of a passionate home audience.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-252793″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-ranveer-singh-mimics-hrithik-roshan-again-on-koffee-with-karan-8-we-cannot-even-do.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com ranveer singh mimics hrithik roshan again on koffee with karan 8 we cannot even do” width=”1121″ height=”628″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-ranveer-singh-mimics-hrithik-roshan-again-on-koffee-with-karan-8-we-cannot-even-do.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-ranveer-singh-mimics-hrithik-roshan-again-on-koffee-with-karan-8-we-cannot-even-do-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1121px) 100vw, 1121px” title=”Mexico Grand Prix: Sergio Perez, a hometown boy, racing to ensure his future with Red Bull 3″>

In the rarefied air of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Perez aims to overcome a run of disappointing races and earn at least a podium result in the champions’ second car, while Verstappen, the recently minted three-time world champion, chases another historic triumph at one of his favorite venues.

“This is my biggest race of the season, and I’m excited for my home race,” Perez said. He asked the boisterous crowd to cheer for both him and his teammate, who was jeered after winning the United States Grand Prix in Texas on Sunday.

Perez said, “The support in Austin was insane.”

Therefore, I have no idea what Mexico will be like. It will really be exceptional. I have optimism.

“I want Mexico to win, but I want everyone on the Red Bull team to win, not just me.”

Even though he has a contract until 2024, Perez understands he really needs to win his seventh race of the career. Perez won two races this season before his form declined. However, he has finished third in the previous two Mexican Grands Prix.

His support base, who is eager to see him become the first Mexican driver to win his home Grand Prix, has not been shy to express their emotions, as they did in Austin, after the turbulent time in their relationship with Verstappen last year, particularly in Brazil.

Team captain Christian Horner said, “I don’t think Max is going to get the warmest reception in Mexico.” “But to him, it’s like water off a duck’s back.”

The 26-year-old Dutchman, who has always been pragmatic, will be focused on victory and acknowledged that this weekend would provide another test after a difficult struggle to win from sixth on the grid last Sunday.

“It’s wonderful to be in Mexico,” he said. It will be a huge race for us since we have a fantastic history here and have placed first and second the last two years. Additionally, it is Checo’s home event.

It’s the highest altitude circuit of the season, which puts stress on the vehicles, but the atmosphere is usually fantastic. In most circumstances, our RB19 has operated well, so I’m excited to see how we do.

This weekend, we’re going back to our regular racing structure, which is wonderful, and I anticipate more fighting. We have to stick to our plan, and our goal is to keep winning.
