<p>Vishnu Vishal discussed the reasons for his decision to sign the film in an interview with Hindustan Times. You’ve seen the type of movies I’ve been working on, he added. Do you believe that if I hadn’t seen the screenplay, I would have signed on? I heard Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s brief when she contacted me about the movie, but I was slow to make up my mind. She was incredibly kind and provided me a five-hour narration when I asked her to narrate the full screenplay. Then I replied in the affirmative.”</p>
<p>“I knew there had to be a strong reason why Rajini sir had accepted Lal Salaam, and I wanted to find that same reason, so I asked her for a full narration,” he said. Now, some would find it conceited or egotistical of me to need a director’s whole narrative before deciding to work on a project. The real reason I have collaborated with so many up-and-coming filmmakers during my career is that I want to work at prestigious theaters and sign winning screenplays. Not every filmmaker will feel comfortable with me asking a lot of questions regarding the plot, characters, etc.”</p>
